Christopher Hitchens has cancer

It was reported Wednesday by news sources, including The Huffington Post, that Christopher Hitchens has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The first indication that there might be something going on with Christopher was back on Monday when Politico reported that the atheist author was suspending his "Hitch 22" book tour for "personal reasons."

On Wednesday, Christopher announced in a brief statement at the Vanity Fair Web site why his tour was suspended. He wrote: "I have been advised by my physician that I must undergo a course of chemotherapy on my esophagus. This advice seems persuasive to me. I regret having had to cancel so many engagements at such short notice."
